Brisbane is the capital of Queensland and the jumping off point for the Gold Coast to the south and the Sunshine Coast to the north. Brisbane international airport is also the main arrival point for international travelers and from here most will connect to regional flights to visit Australia’s tourist icons such as The Great Barrier Reef, Cairns and the Daintree rain forest, Port Douglas and the great Australian outback including Ayres Rock. Brisbane is Queenslands most populous city and lies on the banks of the Brisbane river and along the shores of Moreton Bay. All tourists should make a point of trying to visit these islands and the resorts are great value. Tangalooma Resort on Moreton Island and Couran Cove Resort on Stradbroke island are both excellent. Brisbane is a destination for many sporting events and at these times accommodation is at a premium. When rugby league state of origin matches are being played at Suncorp stadium it pays to book really early or you will miss out. The same goes for cricket test matches and one dayers at the Gabba and Rugby Union at Ballymore.

Dreamworld, Seaworld, Movieworld and Wet’n Wild Waterpark are all only a bus ride away. Public transport is available in all forms around Brisbane so it is easy to get to all of its attractions. Ferries ply the Brisbane river while busses and trains service all the other suburbs.
